Some of you have seen me make mention of how much I really want to go all out and sift through the entire forum and delete every off-topic post and derailed thread, without mercy.
Well, this is that time! Over the course of the next few days (or however long it takes), you will notice some things happen, such as...

:right: An extremely large number of off-topic posts being deleted (emphasis on extremely large).
:right: Threads that no longer hold any relevance will be gone.
:right: An updated rules post that will be sticky, locked, and universal through every forum (finally).
:right: PMs sent out to members whose posts require excessive moderating (no warnings, no bans; simply to shed light).
:right: The very last thing I will do is resynchronize the post count. Merciless deleting of posts will mean some of you will see a disheartening drop in your post count, when all is said and done. I will have the before-and-after of all active members' post count. It may sound cruel, but seeing just how many of some members' posts get deleted will help them think before hitting that little "Submit" button.

Let the purgening begin... :heartbreak:

Two very major things have been implemented into the forum system, one of which you may have already noticed...

:right: Post count is no longer displayed in threads. My intention is to try to increase post quality. I am not heartless in doing this though. Threads is the only place that has showing post count disabled. If you view a member's profile or look at the member's list, you can still see the total post count of yourself and others, so don't worry. Everything else is still shown, as before; avatar, location, name and of course, rank.

:right: Posts of any length will still be allowed by the system. But NOW, if a post is too short, it will still appear but will NOT increase your post count.
The minimum requirement is reasonable... "this is more than long enough." Also note, punctuation, spaces, bbcode and quotes do NOT count towards character length... so there are no loopholes (you'd be in trouble for trying anyway). ;)

Updated the Playing By The Rules post. While it is substantially longer than the original, I tried to keep it as short as possible. It's up-to-date on the forum's layout, and is now a global post.

I tried to make it as blunt and straightforward as possible without being discouraging about posting... we're here to post, dag nabbit, and that's what we'll do. :yay:
